EUGENE MIRMAN:

Eugene Mirman is a comedian based in New York City (where, according to commercials, beans are terrible). As a child, he immigrated from Russia with the dream of becoming a stand-up comedian. He attended Hampshire College in western Massachusetts where he designed his own major of comedy. Eugene has appeared on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, NBC’s Late Friday, VH1, and wrote for White Noise, a pop-culture year-end special on the Trio Cable Network, among other things.
But there’s more! Eugene is also an actor. He was a suspected arsonist on an episode of Third Watch, where he fought the same actor who once gave Kelly drugs on 90210. He threw this actor right on the ground and yelled, “Aaaarrrgg!” Eugene also plays “Eugene” the Russian foreign exchange student on Cartoon Network’s Home Movies. Some of the short films on Eugene’s web-site (New Media, Art), as well as a series he directed called “Hello, My Name Is…” can be seen on Showtime.
Eugene performs regularly in New York and around the country. He’s appeared at both the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival and the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival. If you are in New York, you can see him every Wednesday at Cinema Classics (on 11th between 1st and 2nd). He also does various other shows around the city and is a frequent guest at Tinkle, a show hosted by Todd Barry, David Cross, and Jon Benjamin.
Eugene’s website has gotten several million hits and features an animated child-Eugene singing classic rock songs as well as many of his short films. The site was voted Best of 2001 by TV Guide, and has been featured in Maxim Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, ABC News, CNN and many international magazines, radio stations and websites.
Eugene tours doing comedy in theaters and rock clubs, sometimes opening for the comedy troupe Stella (former members of The State), or his own comedy collective, Underdog, and sometimes with bands or “whomever’s,” a word he made up to describe others. Recently, Eugene opened for The Shins and is touring with Modest Mouse.
