HUMAN HIGHWAY SIGN TO SUICIDE SQUEEZE | ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM Human Highway featuring Nick Thorburn (Islands) and Jim Guthrie Announce their debut album, Moody Motorcycle, out August 19, 2008!
Moody Motorcycle by Human Highway presents a sound reminiscent to that of 50's / 60's soul and doo-wop (i.e. the Everly Brothers), created by Islands member Nick Thorburn and Jim Guthrie (Guthrie is also an acclaimed solo musician currently working on a new album which is a follow-up to his 2004 release Now, More Than Ever.)
The album which Guthrie says features "hot man on man vocal action," was put together in the course of one week at his house in downtown Toronto, where the two spent their entire week both sleeping on, and recording on, Jim's living room couch.
Human Highway came about while Guthrie and Thorburn were on tour with Islands, and was an idea which stemmed from the duo's mutual respect for each other as musicians.
Look out for some very exciting surprises around the release of Moody Motorcycle, including an upcoming video, "classic" vinyl, a Canadian release courtesy of Secret City Records, and sporadic, one-off North American dates, all to be announced in the coming months.

Known for his brand of 16-bit Nintendo-spazz guitar madness, sBACH will surely scramble brains around the world. Seim also promises to take his new project on the road, which is awesome because he rips the axe like nobody's business. Be sure to befriend sBACH on MySpace.

MINUS THE BEAR | MTV BAND OF THE WEEK Beginning this week, September 17-23, Minus the Bear will be the subject of MTV's 52 Bands, a special feature segment that highlights one band per week, throughout the year. The segments are a series of 30-60 second spots on the band, that will be played every 7.5 minutes throughout the day on the channel!
MTV had this to say about the band: "For their Artist Of The Week run, we met up with Minus the Bear in Seattle and gave them an old school Super 8 camera. The resulting footage, which you'll see all week during their Artist Of The Week TV spots, was shot at their favorite haunts, including Captiol Hill pub Clever Dunnes and the Seattle Laser Dome. We think the diverse locations (one down-and-dirty, the other awesomely electrifying) perfectly represent the band's comfortably dissimilar style."
WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Former 764-Hero drummer Polly Johnson has accepted a position as a hair stylist at the Kristovich Loft. Appointments can be made by calling 206-284-2569. If you find yourself in need of a cut or color give her a call!
